Instagram Reels Downloader: Use the Official Button
The best Instagram reel saver is built into Instagram. Public reels have their own Download button, so a reels download takes two taps and no risky third-party site.
Quick answer
Open a public reel, tap the paper-plane (Share) icon, then tap “Download”. The reel is saved to your phone.
Download a reel
Reel download in four steps

The reel is saved to your camera roll or Gallery.
What you get
- A video file you can watch offline
- An Instagram watermark with the creator's username
- No sound, if the reel uses licensed music
No Download button? Here's why
- The creator has turned off downloads for their reels
- The account is private
- It's a teen account, where downloads are off by default
- The reel was posted before the feature existed
- Your Instagram app needs an update
Can't download it? Tap the bookmark icon to save it to a Collection instead.
For creators: control downloads of your reels
Instagram lets you decide whether people can download your reels. Look for the downloads option in your account's sharing settings. You can turn it off for all reels, and Instagram may also let you change it for a single reel when you post it.
Downloads are off by default for teen accounts.
Is it a reel, a video or a story?
Each kind of content has different saving options.
| Detail | Reel (this guide) | Feed video | Story |
|---|---|---|---|
| Link looks like | instagram.com/reel/… | instagram.com/p/… | instagram.com/stories/… |
| Official download | Yes, Share → Download | If posted as a reel | Only your own stories |
| Stays online | Until the creator deletes it | Until the creator deletes it | 24 hours (unless in Highlights) |

Collabs, remixes and music
Collab reels
A reel posted by two accounts has one link. If downloads are allowed, save it like any other reel.
Remix reels
A remix is its own reel. Open the remix itself to save the version you watched, not the original.
Reels with music
Licensed songs may be removed from the saved file. Saving a reel never gives you rights to its music.
Use reels you save responsibly
Keep the watermark, credit the creator, and ask before you re-post their reel. Rights holders can reach us through our DMCA page.

Instagram Reels downloader FAQ
Can I download reels without an Instagram account?
No. The official Download button is inside the Instagram app, so you need to be logged in. To only watch a public reel, you don't need an account.
Can I turn off downloads for my own reels?
Yes. Instagram has a setting that controls whether people can download your reels. Look for it under sharing settings in your account.
How do I download my own reels?
Open your reel and look for a save or download option in its menu, or use “Download your information” in Accounts Center for a full copy.
Why is my downloaded reel silent?
The reel uses licensed music. Instagram can remove that audio from the saved file because the song belongs to the artist.
Does the reel download include the caption?
No. You get the video only. Copy the caption text separately if you want to keep it.
Can I download reels on a computer?
The Download button may not appear on instagram.com. Save the reel on your phone, then move it to your computer.
