DMCA & Copyright

We respect creators' rights. This page explains how to report content you believe infringes your copyright.

Draft for legal review. This page describes how the site works today. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and should be checked before launch.

First: where the content lives

PostsViewer does not host Instagram photos or videos. Posts in our viewer are shown through Instagram's official embed and are stored on Instagram's servers. If the post itself infringes your rights, reporting it to Instagram removes it everywhere, including from our viewer. Instagram has a copyright report form in its Help Center.

You can also contact us about anything on our own pages, such as our text or images.

How to send us a notice

Email [CONTACT EMAIL] with the subject “DMCA notice” and include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. A description of the copyrighted work you believe was infringed.
  3. The exact page on our site where the material appears (the URL).
  4. Your name, address, phone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

These are the elements required by the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)). Notices missing them may not be valid.

What we do next

When we receive a valid notice about content on our own pages, we review it and remove or disable access to the material where appropriate. For embedded Instagram posts, we can stop showing a specific link in our viewer while you report it to Instagram.

Counter-notices

If you believe material was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same email address with your signature, the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake, and your contact details with consent to the appropriate jurisdiction.

Designated agent

Designated agent: [NAME AND ADDRESS OF DMCA AGENT]. [LEGAL REVIEW: register a designated agent with the US Copyright Office before launch.]

Please don't send false notices: misrepresenting infringement can create legal liability. See also our Terms of Service.
